Tellyo Busts Cloud Production Myths at NAB Show 2023
London, UK, 23rd March 2023 – Tellyo, the complete cloud production platform, is very pleased to announce that we will be exhibiting at the forthcoming centennial NAB Show in Las Vegas, from April 16-19th 2023. As well as demonstrating the latest version of the flagship Stream Studio platform for live production in the cloud, Tellyo will also be showcasing the Tellyo Pro solution for video clipping, editing and publishing, and highlighting Tellyo Pro’s seamless integration with Adobe® Premiere® Pro. Finally, Tellyo will be taking aim at some cloud production myths during the show, demonstrating why cloud production has now come of age and is suitable for content creators of any scale.
“We’re very much looking forward to a return to Las Vegas”, notes Tellyo CEO Richard Collins. “We’ve made some significant updates to our flagship Stream Studio platform since last year, increasing the number of third-party hardware control devices supported and adding powerful new signal monitoring tools. We’ve also improved the built-in replay engine, increasing buffer time and enhancing the UX for more intuitive use. With multi-camera ingest (fully synced for seamless video switching in the cloud), a 64-channel audio engine with full production talkback, and onboard graphics templates, Stream Studio continues to lead the pack when it comes to functionality, ease of use and value”.

Tellyo COO Dr. Jakub Majkowski is looking forward to demonstrating Tellyo Pro and the clipping solution’s integration with Adobe Premiere Pro. “Tellyo Pro is an incredibly powerful editing and clipping solution in its own right, but the full two-way integration with Adobe Premiere Pro really unlocks new levels of workflow convenience, enabling teams to collaborate across both platforms live and in real time. We’re one of the few technology partners who can offer this level of integration and we’re very proud of our relationship with Adobe”. The feeling seems to be mutual. “As audience appetite for online content continues to grow internationally, content creators need to respond while finding ever more efficient ways of working”, comments Sriram Iyer, Head of Products and Partnerships for professional video at Adobe. “The integration between both Adobe and Tellyo opens up new ways of working and provides even greater choice”.
With this year’s NAB Show being a centennial celebration, Team Tellyo will also be using the exhibition as an opportunity to dispel some of the myths surrounding cloud production’s maturity. “Cloud-native solutions are almost unrecognisable today versus 2019. They are more powerful, secure, accessible and efficient than ever before, and it’s an urban myth that only smaller content producers can benefit from life in the cloud. We know that cloud production is on a march to the mainstream, and we can already demonstrate how it is working for producers and broadcasters of every size and scale”.

Tellyo Innovates Again with Stream Studio V2.0 Release
London, UK, 17th January 2023 – Tellyo, the complete cloud production platform, is very pleased to start the new year with an important new release of the flagship Stream Studio solution. Following a busy 2022, which saw a dozen updates to the popular cloud-native video production platform, the development team is very proud to announce Version 2.0, which includes a number of important architectural changes and associated customer benefits.
Open Up
Thanks to some back-end changes, Stream Studio can now load up projects almost instantaneously. Operators can therefore get to their projects much faster, and start producing without having to wait for assets to load. We know that content producers are always on a deadline, so we’ve got your back!
Complete Control
We’ve been working hard to increase the number of third-party hardware control devices that Stream Studio is compatible with. To this end, Version 2.0 introduces ‘Studio Controller’ – a new module that enables operators to configure and manage third-party devices. As the popularity of cloud-native production solutions grows, many customers want the same tactile control experience they’d have with a more traditional studio-based workflow. It’s all about familiarity and choice, and we’re delivering.

Scoping it Out
Customer feedback is often an important input to our roadmap, and so we’re very pleased to introduce video scopes (waveform monitor and vectorscope following the Rec.709 image standard) for fast identification of problems, e.g incorrect white balance, black and white levels, or synchro scan issues. You asked us for it – here it is.

Other important additions include:
– The ability to change transitions between playlist assets more easily
– Improvements to the visual positioning of in/out markers when creating clips
– A redesigned UX for replays, and a tripling of the buffer size on all four replay inputs
– Greater speed and platform stability when ‘fast grabbing’ replays
– Support for interlaced video inputs, enabling customers to manually enable motion-adaptive deinterlacing on live stream inputs
“We’ve put a tremendous amount of resource into Stream Studio over the last 12 months”, comments Tellyo CTO Dr. Jakub Majkowski, “and the popularity of the platform has grown in tandem. Stream Studio is really coming of age in terms of features and customer-base to the extent that even the largest national-level broadcasters are considering it as part of their post-pandemic operations”. Tellyo CEO Richard Collins agrees. “Many of our customers use Stream Studio as the keystone of their digital and social media content strategy. Digital and social content may have previously been the lesser relation of ‘traditional’ broadcast content but no longer. It’s now the equal sibling thanks to improvements in production values and the sophistication of our platform. This latest version of Stream Studio sets a new standard for cloud-based production and we’re going to keep pushing the bar even higher throughout 2023”.

Tellyo Appoints Arcadi Misse as Solutions Architect for EMEA
London, UK, 13th December 2022 – Tellyo, thecomplete cloud-based video production platform, is today pleased to announce the appointment of Arcari Misse as the company’s first Solutions Architect for EMEA.
A keen cyclist, both on and off-road, Arcadi lives with his family in Calella (near Barcelona) and brings a wealth of experience of the broadcast industry, having worked in similar technical and operational roles in Spain since 2012. With a degree in Sound and Broadcasting from the University of Wales and an MBA from the London School of Business and Finance, Arcadi joins Tellyo from a Solutions Architect role with a production solution vendor in Barcelona.

“I’m very excited to be joining Tellyo as we look forward to a new year of growth and further expansion”, Arcadi notes. “The industry is increasingly looking to cloud solutions to answer the cost, efficiency and environmental challenges posed by production in a post-pandemic world. I know Tellyo is ideally placed to take advantage of this trend”. The appointment comes at a significant time for Tellyo, and Richard Collins, Tellyo CEO, points to plans for the further development of the company’s footprint in the region. “I’m also very pleased that Arcadi has joined us”, he comments. “This is an important strategic appointment for the company that strengthens our commercial function and will help us reach a greater number of new customers. Pre-sales is an important function in any technology company, and I know Arcadi will do a great job of explaining how Tellyo can be the ideal technical partner for content producers everywhere”.

Size Doesn’t Matter (When It Comes to Cloud Production).
London, UK, 27th September 2022 – Back in July of this year I wrote a short article on sports production, and commented that it is now easier than ever for event organisers to create, distribute and monetise video content, no matter how niche or obscure the sport. The video production tools you need are more sophisticated, more accessible and more cost-effective than at any time. Having recently returned from Amsterdam and a successful IBC exhibition, I think it’s also worth pointing out that these solutions can be very effective tools for the largest broadcasters and content producers too.

Large, national-level broadcasters have perhaps been a little sniffy towards cloud-native production solutions in the past, and I’ve heard a few arguments outlining why these solutions have not been deemed relevant or appropriate. “Our content is highly valuable, and we can’t trust the public cloud”, or “these tools aren’t professional enough for us” or even “we have plenty of hardware capacity on-site so why should we be considering a cloud solution?” I don’t think it’s too hard to offer up rebuttals to each of these points. Firstly, we work with several international sports federations and production houses at Tellyo, and it’s a little unfair to suggest that their content isn’t important or valuable. These organisations have made the decision to embrace cloud-native remote production because of the flexibility and efficiency it offers – they’ve done their due diligence and they’ve liked what they’ve seen. If it works for Sunset+Vine and ESPN, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t work just as well for, for example, the BBC or CNN. Also, to the point about the public cloud, accidents can happen at any time. A fire in an Amazon data centre is no different to a fire in a TV studio. All good broadcasters and content producers should consider redundancy and a disaster recovery plan – that’s just good business practice. In terms of the professionalism of cloud production tools, vendors have all come a long way over the last couple of years, and the pandemic has arguably accelerated product development. Solutions like Tellyo’s flagship Stream Studio are now extremely sophisticated, capable of ingesting and syncing multi-camera feeds and enabling live video switching with extremely low latency. The addition of powerful tools like slow-mo replay engines, graphics, and audio engines with full production talkback/IFB capability plus integration with a number of 3rd party hardware control devices have seen these solutions mature into genuine alternatives to studio and OB production. The third argument that is offered up about production capacity is an interesting one. The sad death of Queen Elizabeth II in the UK recently highlighted a distinct lack of hardware capacity, with broadcasters and rental houses struggling to cope with the demands of a very busy weekend of sporting fixtures followed by a state funeral on the Monday. Events like these are thankfully rare, of course, but it is the highly scalable nature of cloud solutions that is a key part of their attraction – our customers generally only pay for what they use in terms of production hours, and capacity can be scaled up or down as needs and the production landscape change.
As I reflect back on IBC, I can sense a change in the air. During the exhibition we were visited by two large European broadcasters who very openly stated they were at the show to gather more information on cloud solutions because, to paraphrase, “we need to start taking this stuff much more seriously”. I think that’s a welcome development (better late than never, right?) and I believe that our guests were very impressed with what they saw. While it’s true that some broadcasters will never adopt cloud production as their primary workflow for going to air, the increasing fragmentation of the media landscape and the need for complementary content for additional digital and social media channels mean that cloud solutions have a valuable role to play in your content creation strategy, regardless of your size.

European Universities Games Pick Tellyo for Online Coverage
London, UK, 6th September 2022 – For many people outside of Poland, the City of Lodz is perhaps less well known than more familiar names like Warsaw or Krakow. Lodz, however, is actually Poland’s third largest city and is home to over 660,00 people. It’s also the headquarters of Tellyo’s dedicated development team, who work from a renovated warehouse building in the heart of the city. In addition, this July saw Lodz acting as host city for the 2022 European Universities Games (EUG), an international multi-sport event organized every two years for university athletes by the European University Sports Association (EUSA).
This year’s games included 20 different sports, from Badminton to Water Polo, and events were hosted at a number of different venues around the city, many of which are part of the Lodz University of Technology (an EUG 2022 organiser). To facilitate the online coverage of the games, organisers worked with Tellyo and the Stream Studio cloud production solution to create livestreams, highlights packages and clips. “We have a very talented and motivated team of developers based in Lodz”, notes Tellyo CEO Richard Collins, “and it was great for the team to be able to support this significant sporting event in their home city”.

With 5,000 student athletes participating from over 400 European universities and 40 countries, this year’s games was the largest ever and the organiser’s media team created over 42 hours of live stream content and more than 250 hours of clips and highlights. “We were very pleased to partner with Tellyo for this year’s event”, comments Łukasz Śwituniak, a member of the EUG 2022 Organising Committee’s marketing team. “The Lodz connection made this partnership a very natural one, and our media team thoroughly enjoyed using Stream Studio and Tellyo Pro to produce the content for online audiences. Everyone involved noted how easy both platforms are to use and how quickly packages and clips could be produced then distributed online and to social media. We’re obviously not full-time broadcasters so that speed of adoption and ease of use are both incredibly important. Plus, we got amazing real-time technical support from the team in Lodz who couldn’t have done more to ensure the success of our coverage of the games. We reached even more people online this year compared with our last event in 2018, and that’s a testament to the power of Tellyo – we’ve really boosted our online content strategy this year, and our experience has given us plenty of food for thought for the next event in Debrecen, Hungary, in 2024”.
“Many of our developers actually studied at the Lodz University of Technology”, notes Tellyo COO Jakub Majkowski, “and they feel a very strong connection with the University and the city. We’re actively recruiting and continuing to build our team in Lodz, so our involvement in these games is a great advert for both Tellyo and this remarkable place where we live and work”.

The Latest Version of Tellyo Pro is Available Now
London, UK, 27th July 2022 – Tellyo is today pleased to announce the release of the latest version of Tellyo Pro – live production’s preferred cloud-native solution for video editing, clipping and publishing. This latest release (version 2.33.0 – code name ‘Sound Driving’) sees the addition of two very important features, one relating to the management of multiple audio tracks and the second – an advanced MultiViewer – that enables content producers to monitor multiple channels all from one single interface.
Sounding Good
We know that Tellyo Pro users value the ability to work with multiple audio tracks when creating clips, perhaps for alternative commentaries or different languages, and we’ve supported multiple audio tracks for some time now. However, we recognise that working with multiple audio tracks did previously require some extra configuration steps within Tellyo Pro and so we’ve simplified and improved the user interface to make the whole process of managing multiple audio tracks and simulcasting far more straightforward and intuitive.
More info: https://app.tellyo.com/guide/publish-a-clip-in-different-languages-using-tellyo-editor/ and https://app.tellyo.com/guide/simulcast-in-different-languages/

Quality Control
Live production can be both exciting and stressful, and many of our customers regularly produce and stream content across multiple channels at the same time. Stream quality matters, and it’s important to be able to monitor inputs throughout a production. Until now, individual channel monitoring has been done via the Stream Monitor feature and we’re now introducing a new advanced MultiViewer that enables you to monitor stream quality across multiple channels (up to 20 simultaneously) from one single interface. With important features such as threshold alarms, data flows, frame rate and sample rate information, this new interface for monitoring makes it even easier to work with more complex, multi-channel productions.

Tellyo Announces Summer Stream Studio Update
London, UK, 28th June 2022 – Tellyo, the complete cloud production platform, is very pleased to announce the latest version of its flagship Stream Studio solution, which includes a host of quality of life and usability improvements.
Version 1.31.0 – codename ‘Vertical Video Syndrome’ – puts more of the mission critical information you need closer to hand. First up, we’re adding support for multiple aspect ratio outputs – this one’s for you, TikTokers! – and including tally indicators in Playouts and Guests for convenience. We’re also adding call parameter and connection quality information in Guests, making it easier to see guest status at any given time during a production. In addition, we’ve further optimised Sync Group sources, improving stability when there are multiple (10+) guest sources in a production, and we’ve improved the Playout function we introduced just before NAB Show 2022, adding new types of sources and simplifying the user interface. Finally, we’re introducing a fix for audio PTS deltas in the output streams to compensate for the non-linear nature of the system clock on AWS VMs, helping to keep your hardware decoders happy!
Size Me Up
We’re very pleased to include support for multiple aspect ratio outputs in our latest version, giving users a variety of different aspect ratio choices and giving TikTokers everywhere immediate access to 9:16, making content distribution even quicker and easier.
More info: https://app.tellyo.com/guide/multiple-master-outputs/

What’s the Tally?
Live production can be dynamic, fluid and sometimes stressful, and it’s important that Producers and Technical Directors have ready access to key information during productions. Our latest version of Stream Studio adds Tally indicators in Playouts and Guests, giving everyone a very immediate and visual reference of who is live on-air at any given time during a production.

Party of Ten
Our customers are increasingly using Stream Studio to add multiple guests and contributors to their productions, and we know that stability is critical in these situations. Having carried out extensive tests in-house, we’ve made some changes to Sync Group sources so you’ll see an impressive improvement in platform stability and smoothness when you’re including ten guests or more.
More info: https://app.tellyo.com/guide/guests/
Play it Again
Just before NAB 2022 we introduced our new Playout feature which enables the creation of full 24/7 channels. Many of our customers had been requesting this feature and it has proved to be extremely popular. With this latest release we’re pleased to simplify and refine the Playout menu options.
More info: https://app.tellyo.com/guide/playouts/
Timing is Everything
This latest version includes an important bug fix to address the issue of the frame presentation timestamps being taken from ‘realtime’ clock of virtual machines, and potential deviation from actual time. Our fix compensates for this, ensuring that all timings are correct and as per user expectation.
For any more information, please don’t hesitate to contact us at feedback@tellyo.com, and we look forward to hearing your thoughts on this new release. We always value and appreciate your feedback!
Tellyo Announces Latest Tellyo Pro Enhancements for Improved Efficiency
London, UK, 15th June 2022 – Tellyo, the complete cloud production platform, is very pleased to announce the latest updates to the ever-popular Tellyo Pro video editing, clipping and distribution solution. Version 2.32.0 – code name ‘Pollena Eva’ – sees the addition of a transcoded stream preview to our popular Stream Monitor feature, as well as the doubling of the number of rendering slots within the platform for even greater flexibility. We’re also improving and simplifying the user interface for Destination Management, giving users the option to keep or discard content that is held in watch folders, adding subtitles (when available) to the video preview in folders and also adding a ‘hover to preview’ feature for video thumbnails in lists in the folders section.
Sneak Preview
Tellyo Pro’s Stream Monitor feature has received lots of positive feedback since its introduction, and we’re now pleased to build on this important workflow tool by adding transcoded stream previews. The transcoded video takes less bandwidth and also addresses browser limitations, enabling your web browser to show all of the streams that Tellyo Pro’s video backend supports.
More info: https://app.tellyo.com/guide/monitoring-a-stream/
Double Up
In response to feedback from our user community, we’re very pleased to double up the number of rendering slots within Tellyo Pro from two to four (per instance). This will enable more clips to be rendered at any one time and will enable multiple users to produce content more quickly, speeding up workflows and efficiency.
Destination Anywhere
Another significant change is the rebranding of our Account Management menu option to ‘Destination Management’; we’ve also simplified the interface, making all of the destinations visible when entering the view and making the most common control options more readily available to you.
More info: https://app.tellyo.com/guide/manage-destinations/

Watch Me
We know that users value the ability to bring content into Tellyo Pro from other locations automatically via our watch folders feature. However, we are aware there has been some confusion over what happens to these files once transferred to Tellyo Pro. To remove any ambiguity, we’re introducing flags so you can choose whether copies of the original files remain in their source location after transfer to Tellyo Pro, or are discarded. More info: https://app.tellyo.com/guide/watch-folders/

Subtitle Preview
Another new feature is the addition of subtitles (where available) to the video in preview in folders, giving users a more accurate and comprehensive preview of their content before publication.
Hover to Preview
In common with many other video platforms, we’re also introducing a ‘hover to preview’ feature, so that users can see a short preview of their content when they hover their mouse over a video thumbnail. Again, this helps to remove any uncertainty over the nature of the content in question and acts as a quick ‘sanity check’ for users before publishing or distributing content.
